๐Ÿ” Visual search right from Windows' search bar

Good morning search marketers, why don't we talk more about visual search?

PC users can now run Bing visual searches right from the Windows search bar. Click in the search bar and then on the camera icon in the lower right to "Search with a screenshot." Users can search for products, animals, plants, landmarks and even copy and edit text captured from an image. Visual search has been quietly gaining powerful functionality in Bing, Google and Pinterest. It doesn't get the attention of voice, but it should. I expect visual search will catch on and have its moment.

Google said a bug has affected reporting data on traffic from the Discover feed between December 8 and 13 in Search Console. The issue has been fixed, but it appears that data cannot be restored, which is a bummer because — frustratingly — GSC is really the only way to see Discover referrer data. If your site tends to get Discover traffic and you see volume down during that period in Google Analytics, this bug may be the cause.

New GoogleBot name, debugging, improving and happy holidays

New GoogleBot user agent name. As you know, Google is suppose to launch the new user agent names for GoogleBot this month. Martin Splitt from Google confirmed Google is slowly testing the new name now and you may be able to see it in your logs.

Debugging. Yes, Google can debug its own search ranking algorithm. Interestingly, not just a few people at Google can do it, but many within the organization can.

Improving not just your content. Google's John Mueller said success isn't just about improving your site content quality but also about improving your web site as a whole.

Google's holiday decorations. If you search for christmas, chanukah, or kwanzaa you will see the holiday decorations live in the Google search results.
