Google's Chrome browser will start cracking down on "resource-heavy" ads, starting around the end of August. Ads that are programmed poorly, aren't network-optimized or mine cryptocurrency (seriously) hog network data and drain device batteries. Chrome will limit the resources a display ad can use before a user engages with it. If an ad exceeds the resource limit, Chrome will show an "Ad removed" message in place of the ad. Now's the time to start looking at your ad builds to be ready for the change.

Google & WordPress integration. Gary Illyes and his colleague from Google, Pascal Birchler, say that Google's XML Sitemaps integration with native WordPress is always ready.

Minimal textual content can rank. "I'd argue there's a lot of content on Pinterest — even if it's not a collection of 3000 word blog posts. Sometimes images, even with minimal textual content, can be exactly what people are looking for. Not always, and sometimes we get it wrong, but it's certainly an option," Mueller said, responding to a question about why Pinterest often ranks in Google search results.
