🔍 GMB suspension? Now you'll know, thanks to the EU

Good morning Search Marketer, knowledge is power.

Finally, Google is going to start notifying businesses when their Google My Business accounts are suspended. No more realizing days later that the phone hasn't been ringing as much as usual or that your web traffic has fallen off. Local businesses still won't learn exactly why their accounts were flagged, but the notifications will help expedite reinstatement and will show multi-location businesses which location listing caused the problem.

Why the sudden change? We can thank the EU's new transparency law that requires businesses to notify customers when access to a service has been restricted. Google will send notifications to GMB users globally.

Hiring content writers? Recruiting and hiring talented content marketing writers is an investment that can pay off in spades for brands, if you have a strategy and team that can execute.

"They're the ones that are creating the content that is helping Google position a page, that is helping to entertain or inform your buyer as he or she goes through the buyer's journey . . . every dollar that you put into [your writers and content] is going to come back to your company in profits," said Heather Lloyd-Martin, CEO at SuccessWorks, on a Live with Search Engine Land on the topic. Check out the full episode to learn how to find and foster content writers that will help you rank and attract new customers
