Good morning, search marketers, how about a little clarification?
Yesterday we reported that Google is showing local services ads via Assistant. Turns out that wasn't quite right, and we've updated the article. Google is surfacing unpaid local services listings via Assistant, but not ads. Our confusion came from the fact that the listings surfaced by Assistant include the Google Guaranteed badge, which, until now, has only displayed in local services ads that appear at the top of mobile and desktop search results in an ad unit. We're told the local services ads on desktop and mobile results and the local services listings surfaced by Assistant are two separate programs. Google Guaranteed is a free verification service for local service providers and means consumers can get their money back if they're not satisfied with a service.
Bing Ads started rolling out a brand new ad extension yesterday called action extensions. Action extensions highlight calls-to-action in a button on desktop and with an icon on mobile. They can be set at the account, campaign or ad group level and you can choose from one of seven pre-defined CTAs to include in your ads. They're available globally in all supported languages.
If you see an uptick of issues in some Google Search Console enhancement reports, don't panic. Google says it is now reviewing more pages, which means issues that hadn't shown up in those reports before now might appear now.
Last week, Duluth-based agency Aimclear announced it has hired industry vet and prolific content marketer Mark Traphagen as its first VP of content strategy. Mark shared with us his thoughts on content marketing and thought leadership. You'll find his insights are well worth your while.
