🔍 Can a subscription search engine work?

Good morning Search Marketer, would you pay for a search engine?

Google's former head of ads Sridhar Ramaswamy is betting people will subscribe to an ads-free search engine. Ramaswamy is getting ready to unveil a new search engine and direct competitor to Google called Neeva, the New York Times reported Friday. Ramaswamy also told the Times that the quality and usefulness of search results on Google has been compromised by the focus on ad revenue. Ouch. It's a big, fascinating move that will be interesting to watch.

Another start-up venture, HelloWoofy, wants to streamline social for small businesses. It's got scheduling and all that, but it's real hook is bringing automation to social content creation. The platform's autosuggestion functionality gives users who might not know what to say, or are pressed for time, suggestions for text, emojis, images and hashtags. HelloWoofy also announced an integration with Hootsuite Friday.

Microsoft Audience Network Planner

"Think of this tool as Microsoft's version of the Display Planner. The difference is that the Audience Network Planner is actually around and useful," says Joe Martinez of Clix Marketing in his tips on using this tool to uncover more data and expand your reach.

"Microsoft's Audience Ad campaigns have really helped some of my clients get in front of a very specific target audience. There are targeting options in this native ad platform that are not available in other display-like channels. But before you start setting up your Audience Ads campaigns, check out the Audience Network Planner. Finding your right audience will help your campaigns get off to a better start."

Disqus Google issues. Google may have a bug of some sorts with indexing some Disqus comments. Google's Martin Splitt said the team is looking into the issue.

Manual actions in Google Search Console. Daniel Waisberg of Google posted a training video on how to use the manual actions section of Google Search Console. You can watch that video over here.
