🔍 Yes, diversity in marketing orgs can happen, with effort

Good morning search marketers, this isn't going to just happen.

That's my takeaway after hearing from those who are actively working on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Building diverse teams requires intentional investment of time and money. Research shows why it's worth it.

Several agencies and companies are working to address diversity, equity and inclusion with specific teams and actions. Wpromote's Jackie Lueng and CJ Bland of the Minority Professional Network, which offers recruiting, marketing and consulting solutions shared actionable ways to drive diversity, equity and inclusion in your marketing organization. If you're looking for more ways to elevate the minority voices and talent of your current teams and future hires, be sure to catch our Live with Search Engine Land on this very topic during our virtual SMX Next event next week.

Speaking of tuning in…If you're at all into AMP — even begrudgingly —  sign up for today's Live with Search Engine Land with BuzzFeed's SEO manager Matt Dorville and our own George Nguyen. They'll be chatting about the future of AMP and what to consider before Google lifts the AMP requirement for Top Stories. Sign up here for an invite to join the discussion today at 1pm EDT.

In other news, Google's banning click bait ads and announced a bunch of updates to help support local and small businesses as they start to reopen, including free Promoted Pins for Smart campaigns and local store details in the Shopping tab and more.

You can hear me now

Twitter debuted voice Tweets on iOS yesterday. It's a test and available to a limited group of users now, but the company says it will be available to everyone on iOS in the coming weeks.

"There's a lot that can be left unsaid or uninterpreted using text, so we hope voice Tweeting will create a more human experience for listeners and storytellers alike," Twitter said. Voice tweets can be up to 140 seconds long, but if you go over the time limit, a new voice tweet starts automatically in a thread.

Why we care. This brings yet another media dimension to Twitter. Sure, we could (and probably will) see a bunch of people yelling back and forth at each other, but it's also easy to see the possibilities for users — and brand voices — to engage people in a new way.

Local panel service departments, JS & CSS files, and rel=sponsored adoption

Service department showing above dealership. Google's Danny Sullivan said Google made changes to try to show the main dealership local panel when searching for it in Google. But it seems that sometimes the service department local panel is still showing up in some cases. Google will look into these issues.

JavaScript & CSS files. Should you break your JavaScript and CSS files into smaller chunks? Does it help with caching and debugging?  See the excellent advice from Martin Splitt of Google to Bartosz Góralewicz on Twitter.

Rel sponsored on one million sites. Gary Illyes from Google said on Google's new podcast that rel=sponsored has been added to one million web sites.  One million does seem like a lot for this attribute, but he kind of said it is true. Rel sponsored is a newish link attribute Google added when it changed how the nofollow is treated.
