Good morning, Search Marketer, are you agency-side or in-house?
Many in-house marketers are able to deep-dive and dig into the minutiae and data behind their brands. While agency-side SEO and SEM practitioners are the masters of breadth, often juggling multiple brands in varying industries. Many people have a preference for which side they prefer, but there are challenges to both.
In an interview with Search Engine Land's Matt Van Wagner, the 2020 SEO and SEM Agencies of the Year, Adam Heitzman of Higher Visibility and David Black of Wpromote chat about the intricacies of both being agency-side AND running an agency.
Ultimately, in-house or agency-side, the goal is the same: "Make sure that you focus on how you can show value and manage the client's expectations," says Heitzman. Black adds, "I think it's simply focusing on what's coming and don't make your problems the client's problem. Give them what they need versus trying to make a buck."
