🔍 LinkedIn taps Bing data | Another Google antitrust fine

Good morning, search marketers, in the mood for sharing?

Microsoft is. LinkedIn is now tapping Bing search data for its interest targeting capability. LinkedIn interest-based audiences are now informed by the professional content users engage with on Bing. That means the data sharing between the Microsoft-owned search engine and B2B social network now goes both ways.

Amazon advertising keeps gaining steam, and with that comes an ecosystem of tools and services to support that growth. Teikametrics has incorporated hourly bidding optimization into its Flywheel "retail optimization platform" that takes into account advertisers' cost of goods sold data in addition to ads and transaction data.

The saga that is Google's antitrust troubles in the EU continues. The EU levied a $1.7 billion fine for "abusive" AdSense publisher contracts. That brings Google's antitrust fines by the EU to more than $9 billion. And there could be more coming.

On the tactics front, now you can take action on your sitemaps in the new Google Search Console. What's new is old.

Lots more below, including a Pro Tip on Facebook Pages for local strategies.

Here's why embracing Facebook pages can help your local strategy

"Brands are sometimes concerned that spending any time on marketing Facebook local pages will steal away from their focus on national marketing on the corporate page. But consider that Facebook may already have created so-called 'community pages' for your local stores, regardless of whether you are actively managing them. Wouldn't you be better off managing them actively?" asks Damian Rollison of Brandify.

"The answer, in almost every case, is yes. Although your local store pages may surface when someone searches for your brand, and thus in a sense steal market share from your corporate page, that should be something you want to see happen. It's one more example of the general truth that your national branding and e-commerce strategy should work in harmony with your local strategy."
