Good morning search marketers, welcome back to the work week — you're not alone.
Google has announced that it's expanding App campaign search inventory on iOS mobile browsers. There's nothing app advertisers need to do to get access to it — it'll simply be rolling out over the course of July. Installs and in-app conversion events from iOS browsers will be included in your campaign reports; however, they won't be available on third-party measurement tools. Early adopters take heed, Google has said, "We encourage you to monitor your bids and budgets as there may be fluctuations in performance after these updates go live."
For those of us on the organic side, note that just 30% of SMBs would recommend their current SEO provider while another 30% of respondents would actually leave a negative review, according to a recent survey.
"I was surprised to see that many clients blame themselves for the SEO agency relationship going sour," Brian Dean, founder of Backlinko and the survey's author, told Search Engine Land. "In fact, 50% of our panel told us that 'I feel like I need more training to fully benefit from what SEO offers.'"
In his findings, Dean touched on something that should be a part of all new-client onboarding: education. Understanding what we do and why we do it can be the difference between losing a customer after a few months or retaining them for years, and it's on us to make sure our clients are as informed as possible. Not just so they renew their contract, but also because it might just mean that they're more likely to get other departments on board with what we're trying to accomplish, and that's good for everyone.
