Good morning search marketers, are your ready to learn or brush up on your technical SEO skills?
"You don't have to know programming to be good at SEO, but a genuine technical SEO has the ability to develop a website using nothing more than a text editor," says technical SEO and Search Engine Land Editor at Large Detlef Johnson in the kick off to our new series on Programming.
The goal of this new resource is to cut through the noise of all the disparate information out there and provide a roadmap for developing your technical SEO chops. In this first installment, Detlef maps out what you're going to need to get started, including a workstation running MacOS Unix, Gnu/Linux, or Windows Subsystem for Linux. He also shares an initial outline of what's to come. "Primarily, we'll be discussing how you can begin creating prototypes of websites using popular frameworks in order to learn technical SEO in the modern age," says Detlef. We hope this will become a valuable training resource for technical SEOs and look forward to hearing your questions and feedback.
PPC folks, if you've been trying to ignore the existence of responsive search ads all these months, it's probably time to face the reality that they aren't going anywhere. Google hasn't made an official statement, but many reps have been heard saying ETAs will be phased out. Now, Microsoft Advertising opened its RSA beta to all advertisers as of last Friday. You can set up RSAs in the web interface, Editor, the bulk API or import them from your Google Ads campaigns. You can keep resisting RSAs, but it's probably in your ROI's interest to start building experience with them. RSAs will certainly be a topic of conversation at SMX East in November. Hope to see you there.
